Rice with Red Wine Braised Beef

This recipe was originally designed for 4 people. Amended serving sizes for 1, 2, 6, and 8 people are intended to serve as general guidance only. Cooking times may need to be adjusted to suit your amended serving size.
  • 4 cup cooked Hinode white rice (any variety)

  • 8 tbsp Vegetable Oil

  • 2 lb Lean Beef Strips

  • 4 Medium Onion (sliced)

  • 2 tbsp Brown Sugar

  • 1 cup Red Wine

  • 1 cup Beef Stock

  • Salt and Pepper to Taste

Method

  • Prepare Hinode Rice per package instructions.

  • Heat oil in a frying pan.

  • Season beef strips and add to hot oil and cook for a two minutes.

  • Remove beef from pan and set aside.

  • Add onions, stir until lightly browned, then add sugar and cook for another minute or two.

  • Add red wine and stock; bring to the boil, return beef to pan and simmer until reduced.

  • Serve beef on a bed of rice.
